Don Muraco lost the championship to The Sandman, who at the time used the name “Mr. Sandman”, at Chestnut Cabaret in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Earlier at the Cabrini College event in Radnor, Pennsylvania, a bout between the The Sandman and Rockin’ Rebel went to a double disqualification, while Don Muraco pinned Glenn Osbourne in the 3rd bout on the card, and Ernesto Benifica in the 7th bout on the card. Later in the night, the two would wrestle each other in a main event bout where The Sandman lost his championship to Don Muraco. The title change aired on the June 1st, 1993 episode of Hardcore Television.

Tito Santana

In the opening bout at an ECW Arena show in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Santana made his debut in the company by defeating Don Muraco to win the Eastern Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Championship. The title change aired on the August 24th, 1993 episode of Hardcore Television. Later in the night, Santana teamed with Stan Hansen defeating Don Muraco & Shane Douglas due to a disqualification. On the same night, he successfully defended his new championship against Vladimir Koloff. While this proved to be an impressive debut for Tito Santana, it would also be his last.

While there are sources that state Douglas defeated Santana by forfeit on September 9th in Roanoke, Virginia, there is no evidence of an Eastern Championship show taking place on that date. All research has concluded that this is a “phantom” title change. At “UltraClash”, the first Eastern Championship Wrestling event booked by Paul Hayman, and an event that took place at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Douglas made his first appearance as Heavyweight Champion.

On night 2 of “NWA Bloodfest”, Shane Douglas defeated JT Smith after Terry Funk, who had been in the corner of Smith, threw in the towel while Douglas had Smith in the figure-four leglock. Later in the night, The Sandman was supposed to have a shot of the Championship, however after being found unconscious, from what appeared to be an attack by Paul E. Dangerously, Sabu took his place. In this bout, Sabu emerged victorious, being the new Eastern Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. The event took place at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The “Holiday Hell” event as the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, marks the night Terry Funk won the Eastern Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Championship. This took place during the seventh bout of the nigh. Sabu defend his title against Terry Funk in a no disqualification match, in which interference by Shane Douglas and Sherri Martel resulted in Funk pinning Sabu to win the championship.

At “Ultimate Jeopardy”, an event that took place at the Valley Forge Music Fair in Devon, Pennsylvania, Shane Douglas pinned Terry Funk in the Ultimate Jeopardy Match to win the Eastern Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Championship. Clips of this bout air on the March 29th, 1994, episode of Hardcore Television.
